The methods of water treatment include physical treatment and chemical treatment.
The method of water treatment by humans has a considerable history for many years. Physical methods include using various filter materials with different pore sizes, using adsorption or blocking methods to exclude impurities from water. The most important adsorption method is activated carbon adsorption, which passes water through the filter material to prevent larger impurities from passing through, thus obtaining cleaner water. In addition, physical methods also include precipitation method, which allows impurities with lower specific gravity to float on the water surface and be removed, or impurities with higher specific gravity to precipitate below and obtain.
The chemical method uses various chemicals to convert impurities in water into substances that are less harmful to the human body, or to concentrate impurities. The oldest chemical treatment method can be considered as adding alum to water. After the impurities gather in the water, the volume increases, and the impurities can be removed by filtration.
